2012 Color Forecasts
At the close of 2011 and beginning of 2012, all the major paint manufacturers released their 2012 color forecasts. Overall, we can decipher major themes – the influence of high fashion on the home, a movement towards a more modern neutral with varying shades of grey, the importance of a pop of a bright, contrasting color.
Farrow & Ball

Farrow & Ball predicts that unexpected color pairings and the influence of fashion’s color blocking trend are the major trends for the home in 2012. Their concise color forecast for 2012 includes: a beautiful dove gray, a subdued grey-lavender, rich charcoal, and goldenrod.

Pratt & Lambert

This color Pratt & Lambert‘s Essence palette exudes serenity with a rich aubergine, ethereal lavender, a calming blue-grey, neutral wheat, deep turquoise, and tasteful mauve + mint pastels.

I chose Hearthstone (28-27) for my study – it’s such a calming color.

Benjamin Moore

Benjamin Moore‘s expansive color forecast includes several palettes playing upon different themes. My favorite of the five is the Earth & Sky palette, which includes Benjamin Moore’s color of the year Wythe Blue (HC-143).
