Its been a productive and fast paced spring at the bungalow on Mt. Tabor.
Siding is on, drywall is up and getting finished, wiring is temped in. Now, it is all gearing up for the finishing touches! Paint, fixtures, cabinetry, tile and more.
We took a quick stop-in to check out the job site yesterday. During the walk through, we kept marveling at the beauty and change that we saw throughout. Here are a couple of before and after snaps. Transformation abounds.
A repeat design client contacted SBaird Design to assist in choosing final finishes, lighting placement and paint selections for a remodel in the hills off of SW Broadway. The remodeling contractor was a pleasure to work with and needed a cost effective solution with quick turn around time for design services, so that he could get the home ready for market.

A skylight was placed above the future vanity sink. Choosing good overhead lighting posed a challenge that the contractor wanted SBaird Design to resolve.
The new tub/shower combo in the master bath will be built to follow the roof profile of the home. A rain shower and handheld unit will make it a luxurious sanctuary.

SBaird Design came up with a neutral palette that would appeal to many potential homeowners looking to buy in that location.
2012 Color Forecasts
At the close of 2011 and beginning of 2012, all the major paint manufacturers released their 2012 color forecasts. Overall, we can decipher major themes – the influence of high fashion on the home, a movement towards a more modern neutral with varying shades of grey, the importance of a pop of a bright, contrasting color.
Farrow & Ball
Farrow & Ball predicts that unexpected color pairings and the influence of fashion’s color blocking trend are the major trends for the home in 2012. Their concise color forecast for 2012 includes: a beautiful dove gray, a subdued grey-lavender, rich charcoal, and goldenrod.
Pratt & Lambert
This color Pratt & Lambert‘s Essence palette exudes serenity with a rich aubergine, ethereal lavender, a calming blue-grey, neutral wheat, deep turquoise, and tasteful mauve + mint pastels.
I chose Hearthstone (28-27) for my study – it’s such a calming color.
Benjamin Moore‘s expansive color forecast includes several palettes playing upon different themes. My favorite of the five is the Earth & Sky palette, which includes Benjamin Moore’s color of the year Wythe Blue (HC-143).
